Quick and Easy Cobbler

Quick and Easy Cobbler

My mom used to make this for us when I was growing up.  On a weeknight! I knew she really loved us when the cobbler, still warm from the oven, landed on our dining table. She’d add a dollop of whipped cream or some ice cream and we’d all giggle and dance in our seats, full of cobbler joy.

I’m so weak for a good cobbler. Any kind, really. Peach is probably my favorite, though. This version has only three ingredients and is the cobbler version of a dump cake. A better quick and easy cobbler would be hard to find!

Quick and Easy Cobbler

Serves 6-9
Prep time 5 minutes
Cook time 30 minutes
Total time 35 minutes
It doesn't get any easier than this!

Ingredients

  • 1 can your favorite pie filling
  • 1 box white cake mix
  • 1 stick butter (melted)

Note

This is a simple cobbler that is very flexible to suit your taste. Use your favorite pie filling and pair it with a companion cake mix. We've used apple filling with spice cake, cherry with devil's food (brownie mix is yummy with cherry, too!), and lemon filling with butter cake. I've also added a little almond extract to a can of peach filling and topped it with a white cake mix.  Experiment!

Directions

Step 1
Dump pie filling into an 8x8 greased pan.
Step 2
Sprinkle dry cake mix over the top (I use about 2 cups of the mix - more or less.)
Step 3
Drizzle melted butter all over the top of the cake mix.
Step 4 Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
Step 5
Let cool slightly, this is best served warm.
