I have been compensated for this review in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card, but the opinions expressed are my own.
I have just over a year before I turn 50 years old. 50! How did that happen? Well, I’ve decided to say goodbye to my first half-century of existence in a big way. I’m going to travel a lot during the next year and see some of the places that are on my “list.” In fact, when this post goes live, I’ll be on a trip to Seattle and Portland to kick things off and I plan to document the whole thing in ways I never have before. I am borrowing a friend’s GoPro camera for this trip, but I have a feeling that the new GoPro HERO4 will be on my Christmas wish list. We’re going to Disney World in January for my 49th birthday and I’ll want my very own. Europe in May…a GoPro dream!
The newest additions to the GoPro line are just in time for gadget gurus, adventure seekers and family memory makers to upgrade to the latest technology or add them to their holiday wish list. The most advanced GoPros yet.
With stunning image quality and powerful new features, HERO4 cameras take Emmy® Award-winning GoPro performance to a whole new level. Choose from HERO4 Black, with incredible high-resolution 4K30 and 2.7K50 video and high frame rate 1080p120 video, or HERO4 Silver, which pairs pro-quality video and photo capture with the convenience of a built-in touch display.
3 new cameras – something for everyone! Most notably, while the HERO4 still comes in three editions, there are greater differences between them. Black is still the top-specification model, but Silver brings some cool tricks to the table, too. Finally, the White edition is gone and in its place is a new camera simply called “HERO.” The structure is essentially a more defined hierarchy – professionals, consumers and entry level.
First, the patriarch of the family, GoPro HERO4 Black, is the most advanced GoPro ever, featuring improved image quality and a 2x more powerful processor with 2x faster video frame rates. HERO4 Black takes award‐winning GoPro performance to a whole new level.
The GoPro HERO4 Silver is the first-ever GoPro to feature a built-in touch display. I love that feature and know it will make setting things up so much smoother and quicker. Controlling the camera, playing back footage and adjusting settings is ultra-convenient—just view, tap and swipe the screen. With 1080p60 and 720p120 video, and 12MP photos at a staggering 30 frames per second, HERO4 Silver combines powerful, pro-quality capture with the convenience of a touch display.
Finally, GoPro HERO features high‐quality 1080p30 and 720p60 video, and 5MP photos up to 5 fps, HERO captures the same immersive footage that’s made GoPro one of the best-selling cameras in the world.
I love the wearable, mountable design of these cameras and so many other supportive resources to get whatever shooting angle you’re after.
So I’m thinking Space Needle, Mt. Olympus, Columbia River, so many amazing things to see that I want to share with the rest of my family and remember for a very long time. GoPro HERO4 could become my new best friend. I guess I better go call Santa!
