Yes, I love tools!

No, I’m not a guy…

Of my husband and I, I’ve always been the mechanically inclined half. He handles the yard work, the litter box, the heavy lifting and reaching high things, and I do the tech-y things, the cooking, and build and fix stuff. In fact, my wedding shower had a power tool theme! I got so many awesome gifts.  He would likely be appalled at the thought of being covered with grease…or engine oil…or anything like that. I’m perfectly fine with it and can tune up a lawn mower with the best of them.  Fortunately, I have Dawn dish soap to thank for the super easy clean up of both me and my tools.

Make quick work of those messy jobs with a little Dawn and some hot water.

Wheels and Tires:

  • To remove grease and oil from car or bike wheels, add a teaspoon of Dawn to a gallon of hot water.Dawn Beyond the Sink

  • Dip a soft sponge into the bucket, and squeeze out any excess suds and water.Dawn wash

  • Scrub those hubs until all grease has been removed from the metal surface.Dawn Cleaning

  • Rinse with clean warm water, and dry with a soft towel*.

Check out the difference in the left and right sides of my hubcap. Sparkly clean with very little effort!

Greasy Tools

  • Add a teaspoon of Dawn to a gallon of hot water.

  • With a dishrag or sponge, scrub away the grease and oil (do not soak hand tools*).

  • When clean, thoroughly rinse them under running water and dry them with a towel right away.

 * Soaking could lead to etching on certain materials.

  1. I guess my hardest tool to clean are my garden tools. They take a beating. My hand trowel gets the biggest work out. I will say that is the tool that is my hardest to keep clean.

  3. My hardest tools to clean would have to be a my painting tools. They can be quite a pain.

  5. For me, I guess the hardest tools to clean are my garden tools. They get pretty grimy & cruddy looking!

  6. One of our hardest tools to clean is hubbys car tools, they get greasy when he works on the car an they are messy, we use Dawn to keep them clean and fresh now he wishes the car would quit needing work…brakes are next.

  8. i would have to say the hardest tool to clean is my lawn mower does that count? i have to clean it iff before it goes in the garage because i dont want grass everywhere andsometimes getting that mud and grass off takes awile

  10. I hate cleaning my can opener. Not exactly a tool, but there are so many nooks and crannies, often greasy.
