27 Guilty Pleasure Songs

Driving in to work today, “Copacabana” came on the radio. Before I even knew what was happening, I had turned up the volume and started dancing and singing…ALL the words. Not just the “her name was Lola” part and some random “la, la, las” until the chorus. Ā Every word. That is, until I pulled up to a stop light, at which point I discretely turned the volume down and sat there humming softly.

Why do we do that? Ā I feel like if I was just brave enough to keep singing at the stop lights and share my enthusiasm for “Copacabana” with my neighbors on the road, that we’d all arrive at work a little happier.

I guess what I’m saying is that if you like it, own it. Ā So I’m going to start here by sharing a list of my 27 (random, I know) favorite guilty pleasure songs – the ones for which I will no longer apologize for loving. Ā The ones that I will continue to sing at stop lights, in traffic jams, at the office, in the grocery store, in the shower…where ever I am when they find their way to my ears.

I think I could have come up with another 20 or 30 songs! Ā Are yours on this list? Let us know what songs you secretly (or not so secretly!) love to belt out when you hear them.

  1. Singing and listening to good music always picks me up. I agree it is embarrasing to pull up to someone and be singing and dancing around though. I do agree we need to let go and feel good as long as it is not hurting anyone else. It may even encourage someone else to do the same

    1. lol, Katrina! I adore Journey! It turns into a guilty pleasure song when I sing it at the top of my lungs and relish the way it tortures my husband! Gotta love the original Voice!
